My Every Day Skincare Routine

skin care

one, two, three, four, five, six

Taking care of your skin is so important! I’ve heard that if you sleep with your makeup on for just one night, it ages you by eight days! That’s terrifying!! Am I the only one who has been guilty of that a time or two? Never again!

I am someone that will get a little lazy in the evenings and not want to do my skincare routine. I’ll try to get away with just taking my makeup off and not cleansing, but then I usually remind myself that it’s gross and I really need to clean all of that makeup and oil off of my face completely! I change up my routine slightly from morning to night, but these are the steps I take. Enjoy! 🙂

Morning:

I start off by wetting my face with warm water and adding one pump of my Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Nourishing Cleanser to my palm. In circular motions, I lather the cleanser all over my face and neck. Then I pat my face dry with a towel. Next, I take a cotton pad and add a dime-sized amount of my Tea Tree Mattifying Toner from The Body Shop. My face tends to get oily throughout the day, so this really helps cut down on that oil and balances my skin. After that, I’ll pump a dime-sized amount of my Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Daily Moisturizer into my palm and rub it into my face and neck. If I don’t have enough, I pump a little bit more out until it covers my whole face and neck. Better to start off with too little rather than not enough!

Evening:

In the evenings, I start my routine by taking my makeup off with my Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes with White Tea Extract. This product says that it cleanses your face on its own, but I still like to be extra sure I’m getting my face as clean as possible! In the evenings, I use the same Aveeno cleanser with my Mia 1 Skin Cleansing System to ensure I get a deep clean. This has really changed the game in my skincare routine! It feels like it just destroys all the gunk on my skin. I then use my Tea Tree toner again after that. Finally, I go in with my  Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion as my nighttime moisturizer. I’m currently looking for a good nighttime moisturizer that’s actually intended for nighttime. Does anyone have any suggestions?

One or twice a week, I like to use the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask. I normally use this in the shower and I just love it! It is on the pricier side, but it makes my skin feel so soft and smooth! And if it’s helping preserve my skin from aging, I’m all for that!

I also really try to do a face mask once a week. My personal favorite is the Fresh Rose Face Mask. The smell is not fantastic, but it’s worth the results! I’ll do my skincare routine and then apply this mask for about 10 minutes while I do a few things around the house. Again, the Fresh products are a little bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for! I’d also like to try this Philosophy mask.

I’ve been shopping around for a good anti-aging eye cream. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’d like to get one that’s not too expensive!

What are your favorite skin care products? I’d love to know! See you soon! 🙂

Lilly Pulitzer Dress for my Birthday Dinner & A New Car!

IMG_0215

Friday night, my family took me out for dinner for my birthday. We went to this beachside Italian restaurant called Trattoria Dario and it was delicious! I got Chicken Parmesan (one of my faves.) We stopped by the Vero Beach Hotel + Spa afterwards to lounge by the outdoor fire pit and listen to the ocean. It was lovely!

Unfortunately, the Lilly Pulitzer website doesn’t have the dress I’m wearing anymore, but I’m currently loving this maxi dress! My earrings are from Monday Dress, and these pink tassel earrings are so cute! And they’re on sale for $10! Similar purse here.

I got these adorable heels last summer, and of course they sold out immediately because they’re so cute! You can find other favorites of mine here.

Saturday was my actual birthday, and since we had already celebrated, Jason, Logan, + I decided to go car shopping. We have really needed a new family car for a while now. I have a white BMW X3, but it can feel a little small sometimes. We had an idea of what we wanted, and ultimately, we ended up getting the Mercedes ML 350. It’s perfect for us! It even has DVD players in the backseats, so Logan is in love! Having two SUVs is great!

It was a great weekend and a great birthday! What did you do for Cinco de Mayo? I hope you had lots of fun!!

My All-Time Favorite Hair Products

hair

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight

I’m currently in the process of growing my hair out for my wedding. I used to have a LOB, which I loved. But I decided to start growing it longer because I want to have more options with my hair when my wedding comes in September. (P.S. I’ve been taking these vitamins to help my hair grow, they’re awesome!) Sometimes I look back at pictures of my hair when it was really short + miss it! I’ve contemplated just cutting it short again, but then I see pictures of longer wedding hair styles + decide against it. The struggle is real! But that’s a problem for future me. 😉

Anyways, here’s a look at my favorite hair products that I’ve loved the longest!

This Kenra Platinum Color Charge shampoo + conditioner duo has been a favorite of mine for a while now. It smells wonderful, keeps my hair tangle-free, + I definitely see my highlights lasting longer than before. I’m a big fan!

This Bed Head curling iron has been a favorite of mine for many years. It’s cheap and still works like new (I’ve had it approximately five years.) I also really like that it has a a little stand so that the hot iron doesn’t lay on the counter. However, now that my hair is getting longer, I’d really love to get the T3 Whirl Trio Interchangeable Styling Wand. Every beauty blogger and Youtuber has been raving about it recently, so I really want to give it a try! I love that it comes with the 1″, 1.25″, + 1.5″ interchangeable barrels. My current want is just 1″ which creates a tighter curl. I still love the look, but I’d love to have other options as well!

Okay, who literally doesn’t know how they even survived before dry shampoo was a thing? Definitely me! I guess I just washed my hair every day? Ain’t nobody got time for that! My favorite dry shampoo is the Batiste Dry Shampoo in Tropical Coconut. It’s a great price and works wonders! I usually wash my hair every 2-3 days, so this never fails in between those days! I also really love this Triple Sec 3-in-1 by Drybar in Blanc Scent. It’s a little bit more expensive option, but oh my goodness, it smells divine! As you can probably tell, I’m really into the way products smell! There are mixed reviews on the Sephora site about the smell because it is a little strong if you’re sensitive to smells, but you can grab the mini version if you don’t want to commit to buying the big bottle.

I purchased this CHI Air ceramic flat iron in Radiant Rose about 6 months ago when I noticed my GVP flat iron wasn’t heating up as well anymore (it lasted a good 5+ years so I can’t complain.) Admittedly, I was first attracted to the CHI because of the color of it. It was Black Friday and I didn’t want to spend the extra money on it at the time. Then I noticed it go on sale at Target for $75, so I instantly purchased it! I love that it has an automatic shut off, because I think everyone forgets to turn their flat iron off every now and then? No, just me? 🙂 I also set it on this heat mat so I don’t damage my bathroom counter. Mine is grey, but I didn’t know they made it in that pretty aqua color! I might have to make the grey one disappear…

I’ve been using the TRESemme Heat Tamer Leave-in spray for as long as I can remember. I really haven’t experimented much with other heat protection sprays because this one has always worked for me. Do you have any other heat protection sprays that you love?

I really love this Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Creme. I’ve been using it for many years and it always makes my hair feel so shiny, soft, + smooth!

My last favorite is this Kenra Volume Spray 25 hair spray. I tried it because Kate from The Small Things Blog just loves it and if she loves a product, I know I will too! I use it after I curl my hair, and it just takes it to that next level! It holds so well all day and it doesn’t leave your hair feeling super sticky and stiff. Hands down my favorite hair spray!

Did you know that Target is giving a $10 gift card with a $30 online beauty order? Now is the perfect time to stock up on all your beauty favorites! I think I’m going to try this NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in Life’s a Beach and this Raw Sugar hair masque.

What are your favorite hair products? Have you tried any of the ones I’ve mentioned? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

My All-Time Favorite Makeup Products

makeup

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven

I’m definitely no makeup expert, but I do have my favorite products! These seven right here are definitely staple pieces in my every day makeup routine.

This IT Cosmetics CC cream has literally changed my foundation game. It blends so well (I like to apply it with this brush) + lasts all day. I knew a lot of people were raving about it, so I had to try it! I wear Light when I have applied my self-tanner + Fair when I’m pale! Does anyone else have to do this, or is it just me? 😉

I first tried the Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour when I received it in one of my PLAY! by Sephora monthly subscription boxes (highly recommend), and now it has become one of my favorite lipsticks! I received it in the color Happy and it just goes so well with my skin tone.

Out of every product on this list, the L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara is the one I simply cannot live without. I’ve tried so many mascaras and nothing beats this one. I’m lucky that my lashes are naturally dark + on the fuller side, but this product takes them to a whole different level. Just try it, it’s AMAZING! 🙂

The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer is definitely my favorite bronzer right now. Besides the fact that it smells heavenly (like you’re on a beach vacation), it also applies really well and lasts all day. Love it!

Who doesn’t love a good Naked palette? This one is definitely my favorite, next to the Naked Basics palette (which happens to be on sale right now!) I definitely don’t apply eye shadow every day, but when I do, I reach for either of these!

I’m really loving the Tarte Color Splash Lipstick at the moment. I have it in the shade Set Sail which I was wearing a lot of in the fall and winter months because it was darker on me. Now that it’s spring, I want to try it in Escape + Sun Kissed!

What are your can’t-live-without makeup products? I’m always looking to try out new makeup – tell me your favorites! 🙂

Early Birthday Celebration at Disney!

IMG_0169

In celebration of my birthday next weekend, Jason + I decided to head up to Disney World this past weekend to celebrate a little early. As you may have noticed in my last post, Disney is no joke for me! I get super excited to go, and love to dress up! I’m a child (no shame.)

Luckily, we only live about an hour and a half away from Orlando, so we woke up early Saturday morning and drove up. Before we left, he had to stop by his mom’s house to grab a package. I’m like, “oh geez, what did you order now?!” because we always go back and forth with each other about ordering too much stuff online! So he comes out with a package and hands it to me, and I just throw it in the back seat. He’s like, “no, check to make sure it’s the right size,” so I open up the package and it’s the Minnie rose gold ears! I had been wanting them FOREVER, so it was such a nice surprise! He always knows how to completely take me by surprise. 🙂

IMG_0142

We started off at Animal Kingdom because neither of us had been to Pandora (World of Avatar) yet and we wanted to check it out. It’s pretty awesome! We didn’t end up going on either of the rides because we didn’t have fast passes, and the wait times were two hours! No thanks! Next time we will definitely get fast passes (we didn’t plan far enough in advance this time.) But it was nice to just walk around and check it out. We did end up going on Expedition Everest (one of my favorites) + Kilimanjaro Safaris. Look at how cute these animals are! I just love all animals! 🙂

By the way, has anyone had the Tikiti Punch at the Dawa Bar in Animal Kingdom? SO good! It’s vodka with a watermelon lemonade. It was delicious!

After we were done at Animal Kingdom, we ventured on over to Epcot for the Flower + Garden Festival. It was gorgeous! We went into the Butterfly Garden, which was just so pretty. There were so many flowers with all kinds of butterflies flying everywhere! I tried to get one to get on my finger with no luck. Oh well!

IMG_0171

We ended up getting a fast pass for Journey Into Imagination with Figment, which was just okay. Jason remembered loving that ride when he was a kid, but we both agreed now it was kind of lame. We still had fun though!

Does anyone remember Bo Bice? Well, we’re walking and see this stage set up with all these people waiting for some concert to start. We see it’s Blood, Sweat, + Tears featuring Bo Bice so we’re like, sure, let’s watch! We heard a song or two and were over it, but hey, it was interesting!

IMG_0174

My absolute favorite drink at Epcot is the Rosa Royale in Italy. It’s amazing! It’s a sparkling red wine with a hint of sweetness to it. The Rose + Crown Pub in the U.K. is a lot of fun, too!

Next time we go, I DEFINITELY want to go on the Frozen Ever After ride! I still haven’t been on it and am dying to go! I can never get a fast pass and the line is always super long. One of these days, I’ll just bite the bullet and wait in line (with a cocktail!) 😉

IMG_0179

Lady and the Tramp is one of my favorite Disney movies. Look at how cute these Lady and the Tramp trees are? The Flower + Garden Festival was so beautiful!

We thought about heading over to Magic Kingdom (my absolute favorite,) but we were exhausted! Plus, I wanted to clean up and have a nice dinner out. We always go to Magic, so I figured it was good we did something different for a change.

All in all, we had a BLAST! I’m sad the weekend is over, but am so happy we made some new Disney memories! Do any of you have special Disney memories? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

Lauren

How I Dress for Disney: Birthday Edition

IMG_0126

t-shirt, shorts, sneakers, ears

I must confess, I am a bit of a Disney lover ADDICT! I’ve loved all things Disney ever since I was a little girl, and growing up in Florida, I was fortunate that my family took me to Disney World often! As an adult, I continue to go as often as I can (approximately once per month). *RIP bank account* But I just LOVE it! 🙂

So whenever my birthday rolls around, I tend to choose Disney as my celebration! I’m a Cinco de Mayo baby (a blessing + a curse), however, this year Jason and I are going the weekend before my birthday (a.k.a. this weekend.) I’m SO excited! Especially since he’s been away the past two weekends for different occasions. But when I go to Disney, I definitely like to dress the part – sparkly Minnie ears and all! Here’s a look at my birthday outfit for the park! We’re headed to Epcot to the Flower & Garden Festival (and to drink around the world.) 😉

IMG_0131

Yes, I have a Cinderella castle pop socket! I couldn’t find the exact one I have, but you can find a similar one here!

This birthday t-shirt from Blair Lamb Design is so cute and comfy! It’s very breathable too, which is good for the hot weather we will undoubtedly be facing. They make all sorts of cute Disney shirts for adults + children!

My shorts are Lilly Pulitzer, but they’re old (they were a thrift store find!) But I’ve linked similar ones here (so cute, now I want them!) I have SO many Lilly shorts! It’s intense.

These sparkly gold sneakers from Prep Obsessed are seriously SO comfortable for walking in all day and super cute – all for a reasonable price! They also come in multiple colors! I want the rose gold and unicorn ones next! 🙂 They sell the CUTEST preppy clothing, accessories, + gifts – I just want it ALL!!

If you’re looking for some cute, Lilly Pulitzer bow ears, then look no further! Sorority Sweety makes adorable Minnie ears! They’re comfy, and they ship fast! I’m sure I’ll be ordering from her again in the near future! You can never have too many Minnie ears!

Do you live near a Disney location? Do you get excited to dress up to go? I’d love to hear from you! + stay tuned for what we did while we were there! Have a wonderful weekend, friends! 🙂

Lauren

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

mothersday

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve

I don’t know about you, but I am a gal that LOVES to give gifts! I get so excited to shop for them, even more so than I love to shop for myself… and that’s saying something! With Mother’s Day coming up on May 13th, now is the perfect time to start some online shopping to ensure you’ll have the gifts by Mother’s Day. I’ve put together a little guide to give you some gift ideas!

Right now, Bloomingdale’s is having a private sale, where you take $25 off every $100 you spend on select items. Loyalists also get a $25 reward card for every $100 you spend on most regular priced items! Such a good deal – and it’s going on in stores + online until 4/30! I picked up a few Mother’s Day gifts and a birthday gift for my sister. 🙂

Have any of you read and/or watched Big Little Lies yet? I haven’t watched the show yet, but I’ve heard it’s AMAZING! And who doesn’t love Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, + Shailene Woodley? I read the book and I literally couldn’t put it down! I think I finished it within a few days. I love the author, Liane Moriarty. She’s hilarious! Here’s another page-turning book she’s written.

I am really into the lemon print right now, and this kitchen towel, this apron, + this oven mitt make THE CUTEST little kitchen set ever! I swear, Kate Spade never disappoints!

You can never go wrong with a Tory Burch Miller sandal. Ever. They come in so many different colors, are comfortable, and are just so classic. I think I own six pairs of the Miller style. It’s a problem. And right now at Bloomingdale’s, that $25 off of $100 applies to these sandals! Getting the classic brown or black on sale is UNHEARD OF. They come in the black patent leather, too! I’m so tempted to go buy myself another pair just because I can save $25. Please, stop me!

What’s everybody doing with their moms this Mother’s Day? I’ll be up in Georgia for my sister’s wedding! I think I’ll celebrate with my mom the weekend before, which is also my birthday weekend! So it’ll be a weekend full of celebration! 🙂

Have a great weekend my loves!

Lauren
